Dollywood at Christmas
Most of the time, when people look forward to going to Dollywood, they look forward to having their hearts captured by a fast rollercoaster in bright, blue skies and 80 degree weather. Well, Dollywood amazingly decides to turn that world upside down during Christmas. You'll wear a jacket, care less about the rides, and probably won't leave until it gets close to 9:00 PM. So why would you and your kids want to go then? Well, if you're like the many dozens of thousands of other visitors to Dollywood at that time, you and your kids will be too excited with the lighting displays, the Christmas shows, and Santa's Workshop to notice its 36 degrees outside and you haven't ridden a single ride since you got there. The rides (naturally, not the wet ones) will actually be open, and if you want a real thrill, give them a shot after dark. Although Sidney James is located in Gatlinburg, it makes complete sense to stay with us and visit Dollywood. Gatlinburg's Winter Magic lights are by far the best in the county, so enjoy the romantic feel of Gatinburg's Christmas Lights and travel to Dollywood to explore their Christmas adventures.
Festival starts on November 8th and lasts through January 3rd, 2009

Nutcracker "Sweet" and Festival of Trees
Christmas is a magical time of year - not simply because family reunite to celebrate the birth of Christ, or because simply seems to draw out the best in all of us to seek love and cherish it, its also the time of year, in Gatlinburg, when you can witness a building turn into a forest overnight. On November 28-29, the W.L. Mills Conference Center hosts the Festival of Trees. Dozens and dozens of Christmas Trees on display to help usher in the season followed by a presentation of the Nutcracker "Sweet" performed by the Smoky Mountain Dance Theater Company. This event is steps away from your cozy room at Sidney James Mountain Lodge!
